Dear Mrs. Moore -
I just learned of Brother Moore's (as we used to call him in school) passing on Eriealitytv.com and I want to extend to you my deepest sympathy. Brother Moore was a great guy. He was my homeroom teacher at McDowell - he was also the advisor for the Photography/yearbook staff as well as Pep Club. And probably many other things, but those were the groups I belonged to. I have very fond and happy memories of those times and him. Brother Moore was always smiling and he was supportive of all of our creativity. From that experience and confidence built during that time, although I was enrolled at Penn State Behrend as an accounting major my first year, I joined the newspaper staff, were I ended up becoming the Entertainment Section editor. I enjoyed that so much that I knew accounting wasn't for me even though I was receiving A's....it wasn't my passion.

I later changed my major to Marketing and focused on advertising and consumer behavior - the field that I have spent my whole professional life in. I enjoy it to this day and it allows me to provide for my wife and three kids, where she can stay at home and provide them with the life her and I experienced growing up.

This seems like a long story about me, but it isn't.... it's really about how Brother Moore provided the atmosphere for me to learn and grow and allowed me to seek out and experience what I enjoy doing.

Thank You Brother Moore - Rest in Peace.
God Bless.

Thanks especially for sharing the stories of Paul & Gretchen -- their story of courtship reminds me a bit of our own story...and gives me great inspiration and vision for how we might be as joyful and faithful in raising our family. It was great to see that Hans is successfully pursuing his dreams with his musical talent. I hope that one day our daughter will notice that we are like the Amish in not having a TV :) . Looking forward to seeing the tale of Jimmy and his g-g-goggle rays in print someday soon!

As a father of 5 ages 3-10, I've found video games to be a wonderful motivator for the kids. We allow them 30 minutes of "tube time" (their choice of computer/video games or TV) in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening ... but they have to complete their morning and evening chores on time to get them. Almost without fail, they are dressed, beds made, rooms cleaned on their own initiative every morning at 7:30 am. In the evenings, they have their housecleaning chores and homework done by 7:30 pm (in fact they now do their best to finish their homework at school so they don't have to worry about it at home).

Video games are great, but like all things are best enjoyed in moderation. We have enjoyed many multiplayer family games of Mario Cart, Civilization and others. I have avoided the Massively Multiplayer RPG's like World of Warcraft, however, because it does seem too easy to get sucked in as friends of ours have been.

It is fascinating to see how many people are truly living an alternate life in World of Warcraft, even to the point where there is a currency exchange between real money and game money, Chinese "gold farming" businesses paying kids to play WoW 12 hrs a day just to earn game gold to be sold for real money online. The 1999 movie eXistenZ showed a sci-fi future where the gaming world and the real world are indistinguishable, with people living most of their lives plugged in to the game, and I think that is the way things are headed.

I disagree.

Maybe EJ, if he is so concerned about the evils in the streets should get off the computer himself and go outside along side his children and spend some time with them outside doing something as a family. Something he wished his own father had done with him.

It seems EJ is very self absorbed, spending 12-14 hours a day with video games or practicing for his band. Get yourself involved more in your childrens lives. They grow up too fast. Break the cycle of a dead beat dad that was in prison. I did (my dad was in prison as well).
